Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction & Materials , Industrial Metals & Mining and Media sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.34%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON: AAL ), which rose 3.82% or 88.00 points to trade at 2,393.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Antofagasta PLC (LON: ANTO ) added 3.16% or 59.00 points to end at 1,926.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON: ICAG ) was up 2.99% or 8.60 points to 296.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Kingfisher PLC (LON: KGF ), which fell 13.91% or 38.90 points to trade at 240.80 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON: FLTRF ) declined 2.84% or 545.00 points to end at 18,615.00 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON: LAND ) was down 1.79% or 10.00 points to 548.50.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1044 to 760 and 579 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.42% or 12.79 to $3,056.79 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.36% or 0.25 to hit $68.86 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.21% or 0.15 to trade at $72.22 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 103.72.
