Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction , Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.73%, while the MDAX index fell 0.67%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.65%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Zalando SE (ETR: ZALG ), which rose 3.69% or 1.19 points to trade at 33.42 at the close. Meanwhile, Heidelberg Materials AG (ETR: HEIG ) added 2.30% or 3.70 points to end at 164.80 and Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR: P911_p ) was up 1.60% or 0.73 points to 46.37 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rheinmetall AG (ETR: RHMG ), which fell 4.21% or 57.00 points to trade at 1,297.00 at the close. Bayer AG NA (ETR: BAYGN ) declined 3.99% or 0.89 points to end at 21.43 and Airbus Group SE (ETR: AIRG ) was down 3.11% or 5.22 points to 162.70.
The top performers on the MDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR: NDXG ) which rose 3.33% to 14.91, HelloFresh SE (ETR: HFGG ) which was up 2.49% to settle at 8.14 and flatexDEGIRO AG (ETR: FTKn ) which gained 1.87% to close at 22.28.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR: AFXG ) which was down 5.45% to 55.55 in late trade, Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR: WCHG ) which lost 3.99% to settle at 72.18 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR: EVTG ) which was down 3.59% to 5.91 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR: NDXG ) which rose 3.33% to 14.91, Cancom SE O.N. (ETR: COKG ) which was up 2.80% to settle at 24.22 and Nagarro SE (ETR: NA9n ) which gained 1.87% to close at 76.45.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR: AFXG ) which was down 5.45% to 55.55 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR: EVTG ) which lost 3.59% to settle at 5.91 and Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR: ELGG ) which was down 1.68% to 58.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 391 to 226 and 90 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.04% to 21.14.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.71% or 22.44 to $3,168.44 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.35% or 0.25 to hit $71.45 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.16 to trade at $74.65 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.43% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.49% at 103.44.
