Investing.com – U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology , Consumer Services and Telecoms sectors led shares higher while losses in the Consumer Goods , Utilities and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.91% to hit a new 6-months low, while the S&P 500 index fell 0.23%, and the NASDAQ Composite index gained 0.10%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA ), which rose 3.53% or 3.33 points to trade at 97.64 at the close. Meanwhile, Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ: AMZN ) added 2.49% or 4.26 points to end at 175.26 and JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE: JPM ) was up 1.95% or 4.10 points to 214.38 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Travelers Companies (NYSE: TRV ), which fell 11.13% or 29.27 points to trade at 233.83 at the close. International Business Machines (NYSE: IBM ) declined 7.27% or 17.71 points to end at 225.78 and Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE: PG ) was down 7.05% or 12.16 points to 160.23.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ: SMCI ) which rose 10.66% to 33.00, Dollar Tree Inc (NASDAQ: DLTR ) which was up 7.83% to settle at 72.84 and Teradyne Inc (NASDAQ: TER ) which gained 6.05% to close at 72.88.

The worst performers were Schlumberger NV (NYSE: SLB ) which was down 15.48% to 33.14 in late trade, Dupont De Nemours Inc (NYSE: DD ) which lost 14.75% to settle at 57.78 and Celanese Corporation (NYSE: CE ) which was down 14.17% to 40.51 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Treasure Global Inc (NASDAQ: TGL ) which rose 4,812.28% to 2.80, Newegg Commerce Inc (NASDAQ: NEGG ) which was up 2,292.09% to settle at 5.26 and Linkage Global Inc (NASDAQ: LGCB ) which gained 1,374.07% to close at 1.99.

The worst performers were Sunation Energy Inc (NASDAQ: SUNE ) which was down 76.85% to 0.05 in late trade, Ibio Inc (NASDAQ: IBIO ) which lost 53.18% to settle at 1.51 and American Rebel Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: AREB ) which was down 45.59% to 10.61 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2512 to 338 and 17 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2279 fell and 1076 advanced, while 79 ended unchanged.

Shares in Schlumberger NV (NYSE: SLB ) fell to 52-week lows; down 15.48% or 6.07 to 33.14. Shares in Dupont De Nemours Inc (NYSE: DD ) fell to 52-week lows; falling 14.75% or 10.00 to 57.78. Shares in Celanese Corporation (NYSE: CE ) fell to 5-year lows; losing 14.17% or 6.69 to 40.51. Shares in Treasure Global Inc (NASDAQ: TGL ) rose to all time lows; gaining 4,812.28% or 2.74 to 2.80. Shares in Sunation Energy Inc (NASDAQ: SUNE ) fell to all time lows; falling 76.85% or 0.17 to 0.05. Shares in Ibio Inc (NASDAQ: IBIO ) fell to 52-week lows; falling 53.18% or 1.72 to 1.51.

The CBOE Volatility Index , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 3.55% to 46.92 a new 5-year high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.14% or 34.50 to $3,000.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.55% or 0.96 to hit $61.03 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.68% or 1.10 to trade at $64.48 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.44% to 1.09, while USD/JPY rose 0.71% to 147.94.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 103.24.
