Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 1.93%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC declined 1.93% to hit a new 1-month low.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: ALFAA ), which rose 3.00% or 0.38 points to trade at 13.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Arca Continental , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: AC ) added 2.38% or 4.69 points to end at 201.81 and Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV: VOLARA ) was up 2.10% or 0.21 points to 10.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Regional SAB de CV (BMV: RA ), which fell 6.72% or 8.86 points to trade at 123.01 at the close. Gentera SAB de CV (BMV: GENTERA ) declined 6.24% or 1.95 points to end at 29.30 and Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV: ORBIA ) was down 6.21% or 0.94 points to 14.20.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 172 to 80 and 11 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.21% or 36.60 to $2,998.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.66% or 1.03 to hit $60.96 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.23% or 0.15 to trade at $64.28 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.17% to 20.71, while EUR/MXN rose 0.23% to 22.59.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.44% at 103.22.
