Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications , Industrial Engineering and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Entain PLC (LON: ENT ), which rose 6.80% or 40.00 points to trade at 628.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Kingfisher PLC (LON: KGF ) added 2.99% or 8.10 points to end at 279.00 and Howden Joinery Group Plc (LON: HWDN ) was up 2.36% or 17.00 points to 739.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Weir Group PLC (LON: WEIR ), which fell 2.08% or 48.00 points to trade at 2,264.00 at the close. Standard Chartered PLC (LON: STAN ) declined 1.93% or 21.00 points to end at 1,070.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON: AAL ) was down 1.72% or 37.00 points to 2,111.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1096 to 668 and 604 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.38% or 45.39 to $3,343.79 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.95% or 1.23 to hit $61.79 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.01% or 1.32 to trade at $64.48 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.67% to 1.34, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.34% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 98.96.
